Why Free Domain Parking Services Are No Longer Beneficial

Tuesday, March 4th, 2008

It can seem initially very enticing to park your recently bought domain name for free with the domain name seller. They promise revenue and reliable service- but what do you really get out of it?

Unfortunately the majority of free domain parking services will not disclose the actual percentage of revenue you will receive from parking your domain name. Trust me there is always a trade off when you get something for nothing, and just quietly free domain parking services take a substantial cut off the user- why else would they be offering the service for free.

You are much better off paying an upfront fee for your domain parking service, rather than potentially sacrificing significant profits from a well chosen domain name.

Domain Parking - Which Option To Choose?

Tuesday, March 4th, 2008

Currently there are a few options to choose from in terms of domain parking services. Here is a brief summary of the most competitive services currently, and what results you should expect using each.

1) Sedo.com

Sedo allows user’s to buy sell and park domain names all via the one site. The site has a very professional look and feel about it. The site is not very clear in explaining what actual percentage you will receive once you have parked your domain name with them. They do say the minimum threshold is $20, which is fair enough. All in all, not a bad option- would be good for them to clarify there revenue.

2) MoneyParking.com

Like Sedo, MoneyParking is a 1 stop shop for buying, selling and parking domain names. Its convenience is pretty much its main selling point- the site looks a little tired, however navigation is simple and direct. Again it is unfortunately not clear what percentage of the revenue one will receive for parking their domain name.

3) WhyPark

WhyPark is a paid domain parking service, which allows user’s to upload up to 100 domain names to be processed. The site and interface is extremely simplistic, navigation is clear. There is a reasonable amount of flexibility in the templates available for auto-creating your site. 100% of revenue is returned to the user- WhyPark makes their money from the upfront fee and for also affiliate sales made via each parked domain- which you of course receive a nice commission for as well.

Domain parking service’s have become dime a dozen. It seems every domain name seller wants to bundle you in and offer you a domain parking service as well. You might be asking the question why is this so? Simply put, the domain name seller will make a hefty percentage of the revenue driven from your parked domain name. This might seem inviting at first, but beware, if you are looking to profit from domain parking, you are better off seeking a dedicated parking service. Normally a dedicated parking service will charge an upfront fee, however will return 100% of the profits to yourself.

Why Use WhyPark?
